Emily Carter started the rally with a service ace. Kim Hutcheson contributed a block and a dink that fell between Luray’s lines. Elena Kritter added another dink and closed the match with a kill off a set from Elvira Yanez.
“It was a great team effort,” Wilde said. “Elena was her usual self and Danika did a nice job setting and scoring for us.”
Elena Kritter pointed out that earlier in the season, Luray took the third game from the Lady Panthers before Rappahannock closed out the match.
“The first time we played Luray, we stomped them in the first two games,” she said. “(Tonight), I got very uneasy when they started to come back on us. We should have been beating them.”
But that is why Elena Kritter and her teammates are grateful for a 10-game schedule of non-Bull Rim District opponents the first four weeks of the season.
“We play to our competition, • but only , one step up,” she said. “It’s a very long season. That’s why I like it. We play good enough to get to states.”
This time, however, getting to states is the first step. Winning is another.
