The 8-year-old gelding has had a series of setbacks in his short career Until last fall, the German-bred had been sidelined with injuries. In 2004, he had set a track record at Colonial. This spring, Sheppard ran him at Iroquois and was a nice third in soft going.
“He jumped amazingly,*. Hodsdon said of the Colonial race. “He jumped better thaw . he has ever jumped for me. I think he went in short at one fence, the rest he stood off from. He had so much more confidence than when he won here three years ago. That year he was a little timid getting to the front, tins year he was all bumness.
“It has been touch and go with him over the years, since he has a few leg issues. This is the first time we have had two races in row with him, so we are really pleased.’
Unfortunately luck was not with Maneytrain and he did not come out of the race well and will have to wait until nest year while an old bowed tendon
