Rappahannock County High School Band Director Matthew Yonkey testified that he discovered approximately $16,500 of band equipment missing that morning. And the DARE, program director at the high school, Jeffrey Brown of the sherifFs office, said he found his office in shambles.
“Stuff had been pulled out of drawers,” he testified. “A lot of things had been thrown on the floor.”
Brown conducted the preliminary investigation of the burglary. Under questioning he testified that he did not find any DNA evidence, footprints or fingerprints linking Masters to the crime scene. He testified that none of the doors to the school were forced open, but he said that sometimes they would not lock properly and could be easily opened.
