When Wakefield School held its first ever science fair this month, a project dealing with airplanes was judged the best exhibit of all.
Gaston de Bearn and Chris Ralph Were winners of a $100 bond for their explanatory exhibit on “How and Why Planes Fly.” School spokesman Patricia Tucker says Kathleen Fawcett’s project on feline behavior was a close runner-up.
The exhibits were divided into six categories: biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, psychology and technology. Students in grades 3-12 participated with those in grades 8-12 competing for ribbons in each category as well as the overall prize of the $100 bond.
Tucker announced the following additional winners:
— biology — Suzanne Harvey (first place), Carolyn Shaw and Tracy Moran (second place), Travis Butler (third place) and Charlotte Cannon (honorable mention).
