Another favorite was Billy Battaile, cast as Rackham, the fastest gun in the West. The young actor demonstrated his versatility during his evolution into the new town coward when Sneaky becomes sheriff.
Other outstanding characterizations were created by Frans Hansen, the prissy squealing undertaker Marvin Vale, Rae Lutz as the pious preacher’s wife, Sean Dolan as the Reverend Stanley Blackwood who doubles as the town banker and Lori Shea as the beautiful Maroon.
Gaston deBearn, the singer/narrator, kept the show moving at a good pace. He had mastered a feat of memorization, delivering pages of monologue at a time and singing with great western spirit.
Other characters were on stage less often but were equally entertaining. Doc Burch, the town drunk played by Todd Landis, had to skip town for a while. He * Was especially note-worthy -for his fine equestrian style on the back of a stick horse. As well as his philosophy that “anything that’s good for you tastes nasty.”
Sheriff Jack Ogesby played by Doug Voeks died rather early in the evening.
