Condominium insurance differs from the standard homeowners insurance in one basic aspect. A homeowner has one insurance policy while a condominium owner has two policies: a condo association policy and a unit-owner’s policy.
The condominium association policy is purchased by the association. It covers the building, hallways, garages, and all the other areas in which you share common ownership. The unit owner's policy is purchased directly by you to cover your personal property within your individual condominium.
