Bricks?
The school board will forward figures to supervisors on building the new gymnasium building from bricks and mortar at an estimated cost of $968,986 and from pre-fsbrocated metal at $621,684.
“Aesthetically I’d love to see brick and mortar,” commented Bill Oliver, “But realistically I’d go with the second option.”
The board decided to hit the supervisors with both sets of figures and let them decide to fund the higher priced project if that is what they prefer. However, the proposed school budget as to be submitted will include only one item during 1964-86 for the high school renovation. That’s $63,634 in architect’s fees fin: the first phase of design. •
The supervisors will also be asked to apply for a literary loan to fluid the project. The loan would be for $836,000 to be repaid over 20 years.
Finally, the board will be requested to approve a change order on the roof repairs at the elementary school. This will allow E. M. Martin, the Charlottesville company currently reroofing the gym and cafeteria portion of the building, to also complete emergency repairs in the west end of the school.
