“I’d say Blue Plains,” Gilkey answered.
Irwin questioned whether training in rescue from two and three story buildings is “really a necessary ingredient for fire fighting experience.” He also asked whether the county wanted to encourage this area to be a regional fire lighten’ training facility.
“I’d be interested in knowing how the people of AmissvUle feel about this,” said Commissioner David Fannon, the representative from Jackson District.
Gilkey reported that Paul Poling, an active member of local emergency service groups, had done “some legwork in the area and he hasn’t found any opposition.”
With Fannon abstaining, the planning commissioners voted unanimously to endorse the Fire and Rescue Association’s special use permit application.
