The Old Dominion Pointto-Point, sixth race meeting and mid-event of the Virginia Spring Steeplechase Circuit, will be run April 7 at Ben Venue Farm.
Thanks to the generosity of Thomas L. and Louise King Eastham, the Old Dominion Point-to-Point goes off annually at the farm.
Historically significant in the annals of Rappahannock County, Ben Venue was I built nearby the still existing original 1806 log cabin by William Fletcher, the greatgreat-great grandfather of Louise Eastham.
Master builder John Powers, who had worked under Thomas Jefferson, was responsible for the distinctive and strong 19th Century architecture of Ben Venue. Upon its completion in 1844, it became the hub of 3000 acres of rich rolling
