“Where I’m Coinin’ From,” the musical production to debut this weekend at the Gay Street Theater in Washington, is about that often misunderstood, frequently maligned group — American teenagers.
First, the actors are all teens, students from Rappahannock County High School and Wakefield.
Second, the story line follows a day in the life of a teenager, beginning as they come out of bed and out of their dreams in the morning, get ready for school and make the rounds of their classes. The play shows them in social exchanges with their peers, dealing with cliques, crushes, unreturned affection and jealousies. It shows the contrast between the weighty issues raised in the classrooms and the equally weighty issues and questions ‘'teenagers actually think about.
