Grimm had been cast as “the second cowboy.” In the business, they call this sort of part a “supernumerary”. These are the characters which fill out the crowd scenes.
When the original Sneaky Fitch was forced to drop out of the school play, director Pam Lynn recruited Grimm.
“I think he did a magnificent job,” she told the Saturday night audience during curtain call. “Every year everyone asks how I manage to do this,” she added. “It’s because I have such gifted students—especially this young man here.”
Grimm was the obvious crowd favorite judging by comments overheard during intermission. His sheer power of memorization was overwhelming.
