“I don’t see how anybody could be against this because you guys do such a tremendous job — all for free,” responded Planning ) Commissioner Werner Krebser. He questioned, I however, whether the tower I would be located on an ex' posed hill. | Gilkey replied that the . proposed site is in a hol| low near a pond towards the j rear of the fire company's [ lot. “I doubt if it will even be visible from the highway.” Gilkey acknowledged that there may be opposition to construction of the tower from landowners near the site when the special use permit application comes before the Board of Zoning Appeals. He added that representatives from the Fire and Rescue Association are now taking petitions around the Amiss ville area, gathering signatures in support of the project.

He explained that only a story-and-a-half or maybe two stories will be built this year with the $6,000 grant. ‘There’s a good chance well get another $6,000 next year,” Gilkey predicted, noting that construction will continue then.
