Thurmon Franklin Whorton, 46, of Flint Hill, died Friday, December 7 in Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal
Funeral services were conducted on Monday at the Washington Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Scoggin. Burial was in the Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Whorton was born October 21, 1939, in Charlottesville, son of Clarence Franklin Whorton of Waabington and the late Martha Jane Burke Whorton. He was the assistant chief of the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving with his father are his wife, Sandra Lenora Whorton; four daughters, Norma Jean Whorton, Beverly Kay Whorton and Donna Leigh Whorton, all of Flint Hill and JoAnn Martinez of Falls Church; a sister, Lila Jane Hawkins of Calverton and a halfbrother, Roger Lee Foster of Linden.
Pallbearers were Manly J. Bruce, Ray Pullen, Frank E. Huff, Doug Bywaters, Harry Tummeyer, Jr. and Doug McCabe.
