The CCRC has gone to the expense of engaging a certified hydrogeologist with 80 years experience to provide a professional evaluation of the proposed site. One supervisor said he would not accept that evaluation, that he assumed it was biased. But not aO the supervisor* agreed; several have told us they are open to suggestions. One agrees openly that the hasty choice of the MargoUs site was a serious error and even called on the Board to withdraw condemnation and proceed with more study.
To date, it has not even been demonstrated tint a new landfill is required. One established wastemanagement firm with which we have consulted assures us that it would be feasible to haul the waste out of the county from two or three dumpstercompactors to be located in accessible spots in the county. This would eliminate any need for a new sanitary landfill site.
