Coalition of rural counties. The Board reviewed a letter from Patrick County (pop. 15,282) asking Rappahannock to join other rural counties concerned about distribution of therstxte's highway hinds.
“Rural counties in a lot of cases get the short end of the stick,” Chairman Latham said. Supervisor Estes said the competition with cities for funds could get worse, alluding to a city in Prince William county that voted to contribute fluids to a highway project, fluids that come from taxpayer dollars. Supervisor Estes said decisions such ss this in urban areas made it difficult far the state not to allocate the fluids requested. , — ..
The supervisors decided the Patrick County letter was worth further consideration. The Board will respond in support of the organizational efforts and ask for more information.
