| If you haven’t taken soil samples I of your field, garden, or lawn yet, do it
now. Don’t wait until spring to bring your samples to the Extension Office.
This is the busiest time of year for everyone. Samples were delayed last
spring as long as six weeks. Sample now, even if you play , to wait until spring to add the nutrients to your soil.
It is not recommended that you add any nutrients to your soil until you i have sampled. Lime takes two to three years to work its way into soil. If you continue to add lime without sampling,
especially on garden plots, you can run into a lot of problems. If the pH of the sod is too high or too low, certain nutrients become inaccessible to the plant.
