The RCHS junior vanity and vardty basketball teams had a mixed night Monday night in their games against Blue Ridge. The junior varsity began the night with an impressive winning score of 59-42. The varsity team jumped to the lead early in their game, but in the end Blue Ridge came out on top with a score of 73-60.

Junior varsity Coach Greg Waters was pleased with his team’s offensive performance, but said that the team did not do as well defensively as it could have. ‘'The JV’s did the job offensively scoring 59 points, and when we did force bad shots our big men, especially Butch Foster who sewed 23 points, were where they were supposed to be, and they rebounded and sewed,” Waters said.

“Defensively, we were not aggressive and failed to help when the opposing players penetrated or got open for a shot in the first half,” said Waters. “In the second half, we used our press suce8sfully and also played a half zone half man to man defense called a triangle and two which prevented most of the penetration and shooting by their best players.”

Richard Tribino was the other player for the junior varsity in double figures for the night The next game will be against William Monroe Saturday night, December 15. “In order to beat William Monroe Saturday we
