Commissioner Miller predicted the proposed zoning ordinance would reduce costa by eliminating lawsuits. Planner McNear added that other counties such as Fauquier, Culpeper and Warren had staffs not because of the length of their zoning ordinances but because of the amount of subdividing and new development each was experiencing, which created the need for more people to do the work.
Snead also asked if the planning commissioners now were reconsidering downzoning of the former ski area located in Harris Hollow. “I think it’s a real slap in the face to turn around and downzone that property,” Snead said.
