The original decision of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors to concentrate its attentions on . the Margolis tract for a landfill for the county was seen by many of us as being the result of too little information and too much zeal. We assumed that if the Board were aware of the breadth of opposition in the county, and if they were presented with more information about the sensitive ecology of the site and the environmental and economic drawbacks of their selection, their zeal would naturally be redirected toward the difficult task of identifying a more suitable site. We naively supposed the Board would embrace an opportunity to recant a poor decision and get on with this endeavor with the full and enthusiastic support of the community.
Public attendance at the December S Board meeting, a presentation made at that meeting by CCRC, and the dominance of this issue in this newspaper in recent weeks offer more than adequate testimony to the level of concern among citizens of the county. We ill realize that the siting of such a
