Wakefield Students

Score High In

Math Contest

At a regional mathematics contest held at Lord Fairfax Community College on November 10 under the sponsorship of the Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Virginia Commonwealth University, 32 students of Wakefield School’s Prepatory division competed against students of six other area high schools in four levels of mathematics ranging from geometry to calculus.

Wakefield students dominated Level C of the contest which was for students enrolled in a fourth year of mathematics beginning with Algdbra I and not in calculus, and they won six of the top ten scores in that category. The high scorer for Wakefield was sophomore Sean Bennett.

The other schools participating in the contest included Handley High, Warren County High, Warren County Junior High, Strasburg High, James Wood High and Stonewall Jackson
