She adds that communication among libraries in the county is “very good,” not just between the public schools but with the Rappahannock County Library, too, via its inter-library loan system. This system helps in particular when a teacher requires seven to 10 sources of information, Mrs. Scott says.
Rappahannock High’s library budget for the most part is adequate, according to Mrs. Scott. She says the budget could be better; she’s also quick to note the importance of being realistic about costs.
She looks forward to the future: to a new library that’s planned as part of the high school expansion; to newer, less tempermental audio-visual equipment; to the time when a librarian’s aide, even a part-time one, can be hired at the high school.
For the time being, though, she seems content to work with things as they are. “It’s like juggling. You have to be able to do at least five things at once with a built-in clock so you don’t forget anything,” she admits.
