Last summer, the council located a vacant two-story residence in Berryville, the county seat, and convinced the county supervisors to buy the house for $92,000. Donations of time and money from the community transformed the house into a library.
Clarke County had its own library several years ago, but the building fell into disrepair and the library eventually closed. Until last week the closest library was the main Handley branch in downtown Winchester.
