Rappahannock baseball

team stuns top ranked Manassas Park

The Rappahannock Panthers Friday night outgunned the previously undefeated Manassas Park Cougars in a game that Panther Coach Don Dawson called “the biggest upset in sports” in his three years as a coach at Rappahannock High School.

The game started off as it was supposed to, with Manassas Park jumping out to an early 3-0 lead. However, when the Cougars’ bats cooled, the Panthers were ready to hit. Rappahannock scored four runs on four hits in the third inning, which moved the Panthers into the lead by a score of 5 - 3.

In a wild fifth inning, Manassas Park recaptured the lead, only to lose it for good when the Panthers continued their scoring rampage. The final score was 8-7. Manassas Park now has a 10 -1 record overall. Rappahannock’s overall record is 5 - 4.
