Enrichment Camp
With the encouragement of their teachers and the financial support of their parents, 10 Rappahannock County High School students have chosen to spend a week of summer vacation exploring college life at Virginia Tech.
These young people are following in the footsteps of other Rappahannock youth who for the past two summers have been singing the praises of Virginia Tech’s Academic Enrichment Camp.
Participating this year are Butch Foster, Mike Dunn, Mike Deluise, Sean Wayland, David Fisher. Anna Hudson, Shane Thompson, Greg Smith, Anthony Fudd and Bryan Craft.
The students will stay in college dormitories and plan to make extensive use of the athletic and entertainment facilities. But most of the time, they will be in such places as Tech’s Design Laboratory, investigating the concepts of force, stress and equilibrium.
Other areas of the camp program are computer programming, philosophy of science, research and academic counseling. If past history is a reliable indicator, these young people will come home with new skills and friends and with new enthusiasm for furthering their science education.
