At the conclusion of the examination, the exam check-list is given to you. A Courtesy Marine Examination is not a law enforcement activity. No report of you or your boat is ever made to any law enforcement agency. Only a statistical count of the number of examinations is made to the Coast Guard.
The USCG Auxiliary realized that many skippers trailer their small boats from the mountains to the seas, rivers and lakes to fish, waterski and cruise and seldom have the time when they arrive at the water to get a USCG Auxiliary safety inspection. Now you may have your safety check conducted, not only nearby, but at your convenience.
Robert Mahlbacher, of Washington, Va., a member of USCH Auxiliary Flotilla 14-01, and a certified CME Examiner, will be conducting examinations for boats of less than 26 feet, out of the water, and on their trailers. Examinations will be held at his residence at the intersection of Routes 522/211 and 683, one-half mile East of Washington in Rappahannock County (on the Warrenton side).
