All of Rappahannock County is presently under the federal quarantine for the gypsy moth pest. The county is cost sharing with the state for 1,000 burlap bands to be used by residents of the county at no cost. All that is asked is that those who wish to participate keep good records of the larva that is found.
Forms for this will be given out when the bands are picked up from the extension office. The gypsy moth committee members will call periodically to make sure there are no problems."All bands must be in place by May 22.
