Memorial Lecture
Susan Eaton Cameron of Sperryville and her mother, Nancy Harworth of Yellow Springs, Ohio attended the Heberling Memorial Lecture in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 25.
Ms. Cameron’s grandfather, John Atherton Heberling, M.D., was the first medical director of the Home For Crippled Children. His pioneering efforts were critical in the ultimate realization of The Rehabilitation Institute, as it is known today.
Dr. Heberling, a native of Pennsylvania, received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He joined Dr. David Silver, Professor Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and senior attending surgeon at Allegheny General Hospital. He particularly enjoyed the children’s work in orthopedic surgery and was an active participant in the service programs of the Home for Crippled Children and the State Crippled Children’s clinics.
Ms. Cameron’s father, Dr. William Eaton of Pittsburgh, Pa. has also, dedicated many hours of volunteer work to the Home For Crippled Children.
