Leaves have long plagued gardeners. In fact, leaves from the average autumn raking of a medium sized lawn can easily fill a multitude of garbage bags. With municipalities charging anywhere from 50 cents to $3 per bag for pick up, it’s no wonder so many homeowners contemplate burning leaves, despite the numerous environmental, legal and potential safety consequences.
There’s a sensible, easy alternative to burning leaves or putting bag after bag of them out on the curb. Shred them and put them to use as a mulch in the garden. Leaf shredders can reduce eleven bags of leaves into one.
