A request
of litterers
To the Editor:
My husband and I have been weekend residents of Rappahannock County since 1988, and we hope to become full-time residents in about two years. Recently I read about problems with littering along the county roads. Littering is not unique to this county; however, because of the natural beauty here, One would expect folks to be more appreciative and litter less. Until the litterers do develop a greater appreciation for the beauty in this county, those who do appreciate it can do their part by cleaning up the litter.
I regularly patrol a stretch of road in Gid Brown Hollow. Although I do not encourage littering, I can attest to the benefits of picking up trash along our road. It is great exercise in scenic surroundings, people driving by wave, and sometimes usable trash can be found. I carry two bags—one for non-recyclables, and one for recyclables (I always
