He cautioned the members of both boards to include an estimate that costs will increase by 5 percent for every year that expansion is delayed beyond the beginning of the 1993 school year, and said that the soonest an addition could be ready at the elementary school is the fall of 1994.
Mr. Baughan said he had also been asked to give an estimate for a 10,000 square foot metal building to house a vocational program, and estimated the cost at $514,900.
Chairman Beverly Massie said the School Board will consider the alternatives at its November meeting. She asked the members of the Board of Supervisors to visit the elementary school during the school day.
Ellis Bingham, who represents Jackson District on the Board of Supervisors, asked School Superintendent David Gangel to come back to the supervisors with estimates of what the alternatives will cost, including furnishings and staffing.
