Those bonds were paid off in full in 1985.
The second G.O. bonds were issued during Gov. Godwin’s second term. They will be paid off in full in 1997.
Less than a third of the principal amount remains outstanding today. Like the upcoming third issue, those first two issues invested in education, parks and mental health facilities.
These bonds are essential to a successful economic future for Virginia. They are fiscally sound. I hope that you and your readers will join me, the State Chamber of Commerce and many others in supporting this vitally important effort. DOUGLAS BAUMGARDNER

To the Editor:
When I moved to Rappahannock County, I was disappointed that I wasn’t still in the 10th District where I could vote for Frank Wolf.
Therefore, I was delighted when the boundaries were changed and Rappahannock County was included in the 10th District.
Frank Wolf and I met before he ran for any office when he brought his daughter to a 4-H meeting at my house.
He impressed me then and he’s impressed me ever since as an honest, serious and capable man.
