The Homecoming activities are sponsored by the high school’s National Honor Society. Sponsor Frieda Herman said the organization was told they could choose the time for the Homecoming. She said the club considered holding Homecoming in conjunction with the basketball season, but there were scheduling difficulties, and the traditional parade of the Homecoming Court in convertibles could not be done indoors.
“It is difficult to have a half time activity as impressive inside,” she said. “It was their decision.” She said this year the classes had elected escorts for the Homecoming princesses and Queen and that a Homecoming King will be crowned at halftime as well as a Queen.
The Homecoming Dance will follow the game at 8 p.m. Other Homecoming activities include Spirit Week, sponsored by the student council, with each day this week scheduled for certain dress, ending with “blue and gold” day Friday, and an intermural flag football game Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Herman said the school is full of the usual excitement about Homecoming and she hopes the school alumni will come out for the activities also.
