A record number of owners voluntarily had their vehicles inspected during National Car Care Month last October. In all, 7.600 cars trucks and vans were checked in 17 states (26 locations). This was a free inspection, not connected with the annual state inspections required in states like Virginia.
It is an annual public awareness campaign sponsored by consumer groups, government and industry organizations. Its purpose is to call attention to the need for preventive maintenance and vehicle safety, reduced emissions, and improved fuel economy.
Eight out of 10 vehicles had some problem, according to Car Care Council’s Donna Wagner.
