Royal and Mrs. John Wilmont of Linden were Monday guests of Reid Lillard and his sister Hazel Hawkins.
The Salem Garden Club held its October meeting Saturday with Mrs. Hugh Eggborn. Mrs. James Bailey won a red ribbon for dahalias and blue ribbons for chrysanthemum and gladiolas. She also won a yellow ribbon in the artistic division.
Mrs. Joe Hawkins was a Friday guest of Mrs. Jack Petty in Front Royal and together they toured Skyline Drive. Friday overnight and Saturday guests of Mrs. Hawkins were Mrs. Randy Sims and daughter Amanda.
Sunday luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Butler and the Danny Sims family were Mrs. Jane Thornhill of Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Peneranda and Mrs. George Butler.
A few folks from our area attended the Graves Mountain Lodge Apple Harvest Festival at Syria during the weekend where they were able to see apple butter made the old fashioned way and cider being pressed in an antique mill. Attendance was reported to have been in the thousands. ' '
Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. William Ward were in Charlottesville Saturday.
The Salem Fire and Rescue art and crafts festival will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. this Saturday. Crafters will be displaying Halloween and Christmas items and lunch will also be available.
Mr. and Mrs. George Whorton, Sarah and Stephen were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Frazier at Jeffersonton.
