The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative is considering alternative routes as opposition mounts to the proposed 10-mile 100-foot wide right-of-way and new transmission line from Potomac Edison’s substation in Sperryville to REC’s substation near Rixeyville.
When REC representatives first presented the proposed route to the Board of Supervisors earlier this summer, the supervisors made it clear they would prefer for REC to let Potomac Edison serve REC’s Rappahannock customers, and if that could not be arranged, they suggested REC look for another route to provide additional electricity to the Rixeyville substation.
