FLAK JACKET — (also vest, body protector) The National Steeplechase and Hunt Association now requires the use of a protective vest for riders of all sanctioned jump races. The vest, also popular among eventing aficionados, is made to fit under the silks, often anchored by a tail between the legs. Made of highdensity foam, the upper body protector protects the body somewhat from impact injuries and bruising.
