Jump,” by John Court is a “master-work,” according to Getlein. “The awful truth, which takes a few minutes of close observation to sink in, is that Court is a better painter of the horse...not to mention the rider...than [George] Stubbs was.”
Court’s International Gold Cup painting dramatically depicts the breathtaking moment horses take Great Meadow’s famous timber water jump, one of the largest water jumps in the country.
The painting itself is large, a 36”x60” oil on canvas, and a limited edition print is already available.
Although it came as no surprise to those who know his sensitive approach to life and work, Court made an extraordinary gesture of support for a charity the Gold Cup formed a partnership with last year, The Equine Rescue League.
The Equine Rescue League provides transportation and holding facilities for unwanted horses and those seized by humane officials and offers care and adoption services as well as educational and public awareness programs about equine neglect and abuse issues.
