Foxhunters covet the fall season as much steeplechasers as it’s the beginning of their sevenmonth hunting season.
Foxhunters can find both sport as well as glory at Field Hunter Championship of North America, a judged event held in conjunction with the Virginia Fall Race, the two-day race meeting held the first weekend in October at Glenwood Park in Middleburg.
Organizers invite all foxhunters to join in four days of hunting in Virginia’s scenic countryside.
Proceeds benefit the Loudoun Hospital Center.
On Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Loudoun Hunt will host a day of sport, followed by the Piedmont Foxhounds on Thursday, Sept. 30, the Fairfax Hunt Friday, Oct. 1 and the Warrenton Hunt Saturday, Oct. 2.
“We expect to have 75-100 participants,” said Gary Baker, race chairman of the Virginia Fall Races. “They are judged on suitability, manners and performance in the hunting field, and those who are selected [during the four days of hunting] can compete at the finals.”
