The number of Home Based Business continues to increase. Did you know the first scoop of Baskin Robins ice cream was produced in a modest farmhouse and the multimillion dollar Hershey candy empire began form Milton S. Hershey’s kitchen? Or that the manufacturing of the Apple computer began in a garage. There are many examples of motivated individuals who began their business at home.

Motivated by the appeal of seeing an idea become a reality, more and more home based business are appearing. In most home based business, men and women use skills and abilities they possess and enjoy. The appeal of flexible work hours and personal control are motivating factors to start a home based business but beware. It takes a lot of planning, time, and, money to get started.

Each year over two thirds of the home based business fail or terminate because of poor business practices and avoidable mistakes. The main reason many small businesses fail is lack of planning.
