TRANSPORTATION CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR #12903 - Warrenton Residency. Individual to inspect highway and bridge contract construction and maintenance work, contract maintenance schedules and road projects to ensure quality control and contract compliance. Conducts on-site inspections of materials, roadways, and structures, including checking lines, grades, and dimensions of work. Compiles and maintains project documentation, such as estimates and progress reports; promotes Department safety policies; and communicates with contractors and the general public. Must know highway and bridge construction methods and be able to read and interpret plans and specifications; use and instruct others in the operation of survey instruments and engineering field equipment; supervise others; meet and communicate with personnel and the general public; and possess a valid Virginia Operator’s license, safety shoes, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). May be required to work in the vicinity of devices emanating low level ionizing radiation. Salary: $19,668 - $30,030. Closing Date: 09/24/93.
