Attends service facility by pumping gas, assisting customers, and servicing vehicles; overhauls equipment, such as removing transmissions, replacing axles, or rebuilding motors; and performs preventive maintenance on all types of equipment. Completes and maintains records on materials used, time, and rental equipment; conducts safety meetings; performs welding; and provides instruction to equipment operators in the operation and maintenance of equipment. Knowledge of general automotive equipment repairs and standard shop practices and techniques. Must be able to diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs; operate highway equipment; and perform heavy manual labor and possess a valid Virginia Operator’s license, safety shoes, and a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). TRANSPORTATION CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR #12903 - Warrenton Residency. Individual to inspect highway and bridge contract construction and maintenance work, contract maintenance schedules and road projects to ensure quality control and contract compliance. Conducts on-site inspections of materials, roadways, and structures, including checking lines, grades, and dimensions of work. Compiles and maintains project documentation, such as estimates and progress reports; promotes Department safety policies; and communicates with contractors and the general public. Must know highway and bridge construction methods and be able to read and interpret plans and specifications; use and instruct others in the operation of survey instruments and engineering field equipment; supervise others; meet and communicate with personnel and the general public; and possess a valid Virginia Operator’s license, safety shoes, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). May be required to work in the vicinity of devices emanating low level ionizing radiation. Salary: $19,668 - $30,030. Closing Date: 09/24/93.
