• Virginia racing begins in Mt Jackson at the Shenandoah Race Meet on Saturday, Sept. 11. Foui flat, one timber and two hurdle races will be offered. This is the second year that Mt. Airy Farm has hosted these unsanctioned races. For more information, call (703) 740-8666.
• Historic Belmont Plantation is the next stop in Virginia for the 36th annual Fairfax Races Sunday, Sept. 25. Fairfax remains as the opening sanctionec race meet on the Old Dominion’s autumn circuit. The feature is the $7,500 Bowman Bowl, a threemile timber race that comprises the first leg of the Southern State Triple Crown Timber Championship along with the Nicoll race at Foxfield. • Travel to Charlottesville Sunday, Sept. 26 for the 16th annual Foxfield Fall Races. The Daniel Van Clief Memorial , Handicap, which offers a purse of $20,000, is the featured event over hurdles.
