Fletcher’s Mill, but he also believes the customers would be better served by Potomac Edison. He urges REC customers to write to the judges at the State Corporation Commission asking to be served by Potomac Edison.
He said people should write to the commissioners themselves: the Hon. Hullihen Williams, the Hon. Theodore V. Morrison Jr., and the Hon. Preston C. Shannon at the State Corporation Commission, PO Box 1197, Richmond, VA 23209.
REC will need a “certificate of need and convenience” from the SCC to build a new transmission line, because the line crosses into the service area of another utility. Culpeper District Manager Frank Andrews said REC has not yet applied to the SCC for the certificate.
Last fall, when REC applied to the SCC for a rate increase, Rappahannock and Culpeper customers served from the Rixeyville substation organized to protest the increase. At a meeting at the local high school REC claimed that the problems with service for the area were the result of problems with the transmission line from VEPCO to the substation.
