Three races in the U.S. join one in England and one in Wales to crown the champion novice hurdler on two shores, with nominees to the series racing for the $1 million bonus given to a superhorse capable of winning two of the three races here in the U.S. and both British starts.

The first race in the series takes place at Morven Park Oct 9. The McCashin, whose purse was upped by $20,000 from last year’s level, will be contested at 2V* miles over Morven’s rolling, irrigated course.

After a hot, dry summer in the Commonwealth, the effective watering system installed at the course should play a big hand in drawing the cream off the nation’s crop of young hurdle stars.

The runners travel 14 days later to the Oct. 23, Far Hills meeting in New Jersey. The Foxbrook Supreme Hurdle is set over a testing 2'/z miles with a hefty $50,000 purse. Nov. 6, the youngsters line up at Callaway Gardens near Columbus, Ga. to run for the incredible $75,000 purse in the U.S. Championship Supreme Hurdle. Two and threeeighths is the distance there.
