Also the pre-school handicapped program has become full-time starting this fall. Some of the children will attend for the full day, and some will attend for half a day. The decision will be made pn an individual basis, Mr. Smith said.
One of this year’s changes won’t be obvious for several weeks. The elementary school will be using a new report card for kindergarten through third grade. The children will receive check marks instead of letter grades, and they will receive these cards every nine weeks instead of every six weeks. However, at about the half-way point during the marking period an interim re'p6rt will go out to parents.
Mr. Smith said he realized that the biggest change will come late this fall when construction begins on the addition. “Weil have some lifestyle changes when the work starts,” he said. However, he is excited about the addition as a way to reduce tremendous crowding problems. “Our lack of space affects everything,” he said.
