To the Editor:
On behalf of the participants of the Rappahannock County Library’s “Peer Amid Books...Read” Summer Reading Program, we would'like to , thank the many local businesses and community groups that contributed prizes for the program.
There were some fantastic items donated. Every year local business and community groups are asked to contribute something that would appeal to a child. These items are then used to encourage the children to read. The smaller items are given out during weekly prize drawings. The more valuable items are saved to be used as the grand prizes. The number of chances each child receives is based on the number of books he/she reads.
This year’s response was absolutely tremendous. The following groups deserve special recognition and thanks for contributing so generously to such a worthwhile endeavor. In alphabetical order they are: The Appetite Repair Shop, Cabin Fever Books, Chipmunk Hollow Interiors, The Church Mouse, The Country Cafe, Country Heritage, Country Manor Gift Shop, The Earth Gallery, Earthkeepers, Faith Mountain, Hackley’s Store, Laurel Mills Store, Mountainside Market, Ochs Delikatessen, RAAC, Rare Finds, The Rush River Co., The Sperryville Emporium, The Theatre at Little Washington, The Trading Post, and Trinity Episcopal Church.
