The Virginia Gold Cup Association (VGCA) has probably showcased more artists than any other steeplechase race in Virginia. This year, the International Gold Cup, VGCA’s fall race, features an artist who is actually an old friend whose work many will remember from the Gold Cup’s final days at the old Broadview course.
John Court, a Richmond artist of international acclaim, depicted the last Virginia Gold Cup run at the Broadview course in 1984, and began yet another tradition for a race and a sport already steeped in tradition.
