April 21: “Alive and Kicking”
The Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society and the Aging Together Rappahannock County Elder Care Coalition present “Alive and Kicking.” Free health scans will be provided by the American Cancer Society, Culpeper and Fauquier Hospitals, Rappahannock Lions Sight and Hearing Van, University of Virginia Medical Center and others from 10 am. to 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock County High School. Also, at the high school from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the 3rd annual “Community Conversation on Aging” will take place. dinner with biuegrass
Laurel and Billy Shaffer of Amissville have been selected as Student Ambassadors with People to People delegations traveling this summer. The duo are hosting a spaghetti dinner with live biuegrass music from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Amissville United Methodist Church, 14760 Lee Highway (U.S. 211), Amissville. Billy is in the fifth grade at Emerald Hill Elementary and will travel to England and France from June 26 to July 9. Laurel is an eighth-grader at Culpeper Middle School. She will be traveling July 12-31 to England, Ireland and Wales. Dinner is $6 per person (4 and under eat free) and includes spaghetti, salad, bread and butter, beverages, dessert and great music. Monies raised will go towards each student’s tuition costs. They are each responsible tor raising their own tuition, so far, about $3,000 of the $5,000+ required.
