funding sources.

The Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the schools’ budget request at 7 p.m. on April 30 at the Rappahannock Comity High School Auditorium. The supervisors will adopt a finalized school budget at their next monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on May 7.

After the school budget increase, the next largest expenditure increase came from the $145,000 price tag for closing the last cell in the Amissville landfill. But McCarthy said that is being funded through reserves specifically retained for that purpose, and therefore it is not reflected in the tax increase.

A public hearing for the non-school portion of the county budget will be held at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting at 7 p.m. on June 4.

In his letter to the board, McCarthy suggested that the budget be adopted at a 6 p.m. meeting on June 25.
