Like the days following 9-11-01, the time will come when all is known - and we come to realize the true depth of this tragedy.
During the convocation held at Virginia Tech on Tuesday afternoon, the fact that the student body, faculty and administration were all part of a family was mentioned several times, and like families, the individual members that make it up will help the others get through the heartbreak that is now being felt all across Virginia, the U.S. and the world. Locally, our churches will provide the solace we desperately seek at this time; as community members scramble to memorialize the victims.
As Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said in his address, “No words can express the depth of the sadness that we feel.”
He’s right.
We offer our sympathy and prayers to the families of the victims, who must now bear a pain which we cannot imagine.
