Council Members requested that Herb White of WW Associates and Don Heart of Environmental Systems Service come to Washington and explain to the council why the system is not working.
White and Hearl designed the town reservoir that began operating in September. They did not design or build the pump house, which is a much older facility.
“1 think they need to come back here and talk to us,* Mitchell said. “I think they owe us an explanation for why it doesn’t work.”
The council tabled the issue for a later meeting.
Council members approved spending $4,750 for an anticorrosion treatment for the town’s drinking water system. A chemical feed pump will be installed to administer the treatment, which Dodd said is designed to prevent corrosion on the town’s water pipes as well as pipes and fixtures in residents’ homes.
The town also needs to pay $2,000 to renew their permit for water discharges. Other small upgrades to the drinking water system will cost $1,600, Dodd told the council. Wastewater update
Mayor Eugene Leggett reported encouraging progress in the ongoing effort to build a wastewater treatment system for Washington.
He said the site for the town’s planned wastewater treatment plant near Avon Hall has been approved by WW Associates.
